What January 10th 2006 Really Means for Apple... and Everyone Else

At this years Apple keynote we saw the simultaneous creation of new opportunities and new concerns for the company from Cupertino that could. It would be hyperbole to say that today marks the beginning of Apple's market takeover or a new revolution in the Valley. But it could be that with fresh hopes and fears, we've just witnessed the birth of a new Apple.

Go Apple!

Sorry

Sorry there were no updates today, I came down with a nasty bug of some kind and have been sleeping most of the day. Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow, or Tuesday at the latest. Since I'm talking about it, I also want to mention that more daily content is coming after I get the site optimized to it's fullest. Then I'll be able to focus solely on content, which is what I'm really interested in. Hope you had a great weekend!

Get around firewalls and blocked websites at school and work

This easy to use *virtual* browser will allow you to bypass firewalls and many other security programs at work and school. It even encrypts your traffic so your network admin does not know what your doing.

This one goes out to all my friends living in dorms that can't get to anything cool on the web. I wish I had found this when I was off at school. If this doesn't work for you, it's possible that your administrator has already blocked the site.

Micheal Vick Dismissed From Virginia Tech

In response to an article linked in today's Hue, Micheal Vick has been dismissed from Virginia Tech. When he was allowed to come back to shool at the beginning of '04 the University President said he had only one more chance. After on and off the field problems it was finally time to let Vick go. Sad to see such talent not being used. Hopefully he'll get himself straight and be successfull in the future.

The Spectrum will be posting a pretty exhaustive list of OS X freeware in the future. In addition, you'll be seeing reviews of a lot of freeware very shortly.

Introducing The Daily Hue (1.6.06)

Welcome to the first ever edition of The Daily Hue. I'm not married to the name, so it may change, but all that matters is that you'll get a daily dose of links covering a whole spectrum of topics. In addition to the links you'll get a little commentary from me. Today's links are dominated by Florida State sports and the Orange Bowl in particular. That won't always be the case, but you will find out rather quickly that I'm a diehard 'Nole.

Every now and then you'll also find links to stories that I've found from digg.com, one of my favorite web sites, in addition to the feature posts.

Enjoy!

Hokies AD 'embarrassed' by Vick's conduct
I'm glad the AD decided to speak out about this, but still think more needs to be done. It was a blatant attempt to hurt someone from a guy who's already been given his share of chances. It's time for Vick to move on, the ACC doesn't deserve to get a bad rep from one player.

The next few links are about Tuesday nights Orange Bowl game. I was a little dissapointed with the result, but won't complain too much because the game was an instant classic. Just wish we didn't lose because of kicking woes so often.

Kelly kicks winning field goal after earlier misses

FSU's Bobby Bowden says he's rejuvenated

Terrible game, very dissapointing. Look for a feature about the 'Noles season so far in the next few days and then regular analysis for the rest of the season.

Most of Vista features unadulterated ripoffs from Apple Mac OS X

Most of the features Microsoft demonstrated last night on the first day of the annual International Consumer Electronics Show were pure, unadulterated ripoffs from Apple's Mac OS X. I am a huge Apple fan but I don't want to turn this into a bash Microsoft blog. This is too good to pass up. I think it was Steve Jobs that made the joke about how Microsoft delayed the release of Longhorn (now called Vista) every time Apple updated OS X.

Audio Test... THIS IS SWEET!!!

this is an audio post - click to play

I just found an audioblogging feature here on Blogger and it's amazing! I'll definitely be using this in the future. This makes blogging even more portable and revolutionary. When you're away from your computer and witness an event, or think of an idea, or whatever it may be you can instantly post it to your blog. Amazing stuff!

Congrats to Penn State

Last night's Orange Bowl was one of the best football games I've ever seen. If FSU had come out on top it would have been even better. I wish we could finally get a kicker in here that can make kicks under pressure. I was especially pleased with our defense; that's Florida State football! I wouldn't want to be Micheal Robinson today, he's got to be feeling the pounding we gave him last night.

Best wishes to Leon Washington, Wille Reid, and the rest of the seniors in whatever life brings them.
